PETER SYMONDS COLLEGE | STUDY SUPPORT
STUDY SUPPORT
We welcome applications from students with learning difficulties, disabilities and medical conditions. We have a team of well-trained specialists who will discuss with you how they can best meet your specific needs. The college is well equipped and we ensure that you take a full part in college life.
Our team provides a wide range of support based on different students’ needs. We provide support for you if you have a learning difficulty including, for example, dyslexia, dyspraxia or ADD. We will ensure that special arrangements for external examinations are in place if, for example, you use a word processor, have extra time or require specific arrangements for medical needs.
The college has been adapted for students with mobility needs and, whilst the hilly campus can cause some difficulties, adaptations have and will continue to make the college more accessible.
We are also available to help you if you feel that you are struggling once you have arrived at college. Together with the Learning Advisers, we can talk you through your concerns and help you with strategies to deal with them during individual appointments or workshops. Also if you need support temporarily, for example you have broken your leg, arrangements can be made to make your life easier.
Our First Aid Nurse Adviser is also available during college hours for helpful advice and in case of emergency.
It is important that you tell us on your application form whether you will require any extra support, so that we can organise any assistance before you arrive.
If you would like to discuss any issues, please contact our Study Support team on 01962 857556 or email them at studysupport@psc.ac.uk
EAL – English as an Additional Language
